Job description

This is Adyen Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition. For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster. Our Cloud Native Experience team is on a mission to provide our customers with a seamless, unified interface to deploy and manage their services, regardless of the underlying infrastructure. We are looking for a skilled Infrastructure Developer to build the core of this platform. In this role, you will write the code that abstracts away the complexities of hybrid environments, creating a powerful, API-driven experience for our customers. If you are passionate about building infrastructure as a product and love solving complex problems with clean, elegant code, this is the role for you. What you'll do • Build the Unified Platform: Design, develop and integrate the core services, APIs, and automation that power our internal cloud platform. • Abstract Hybrid Complexity: Create a seamless experience by engineering solutions that bridge our public cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and on-premises infrastructure, making them function as a single, cohesive environment for the user. • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use tools like Terraform or Pulumi to declaratively manage the underlying resources that our platform provisions and consumes. • Deliver with CI/CD: Build and maintain sophisticated CI/CD pipelines to ensure the rapid, reliable, and safe deployment of the platform itself. • Focus on the Customer: Collaborate with other engineering teams to understand customer needs and translate them into robust, scalable, and self-service platform features. • Ensure Platform Reliability: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the stack to guarantee the high availability and performance our customers depend on. You will also participate in a blameless on-call rotation. What we're looking for Must-Haves: • Strong proficiency in a modern language (Go or Python) for building APIs, services, and automation. Your ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code is essential. • Proven experience building and maintaining distributed systems. • A strong understanding of API design principles (e.g., REST, gRPC). • Familiarity with authentication and authorization frameworks and standards. • Solid experience in a role focused on building infrastructure platforms, such as DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering. • Experience on designing and building E2E systems. • Hands-on experience with on-premises environments, including virtualization, networking concepts, and server hardware. • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Pulumi. • Expertise with containerization and orchestration technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes. • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems. • A security-first mindset when building systems. Nice-to-Haves: • Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry). • Familiarity with building and managing CI/CD systems like GitLab CI or GitHub Actions. • Deep understanding of at least one major cloud provider (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), including its core APIs and services. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds and cultures is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, and we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen. Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Does this sound like you? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application! What’s next? Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days. Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role. Learn more about our hiring process here. Don’t be afraid to let us know if you need more flexibility. This role is based out of our Amsterdam office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.
