ABOUT THE ROLE The role will be an integral part of our Compliance team. Our team is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and ethical conduct across all aspects of our business operations. Will assist with the design, implementation and oversight of Bitvavo’s risk-based compliance programme, based on EU regulatory requirements. You will be part of a team responsible for the daily compliance activities contributing with your expertise in advising internal stakeholders on compliance matters and drafting/reviewing internal policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements. You will be able to assess impact and draft clear and hands-on advice on upcoming regulatory change impact and implementation, taking into account the needs of the business. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING - Own and drive the strategic development of the Group’s Policy Framework, ensuring full alignment with the Compliance Programme and applicable regulatory requirements - Monitor and analyse developments with regard to regulations in the compliance area (i.e MICAR, EMD II, DORA, AMLDs) and make regulatory impact assessment with clear business requirements - Act as the primary compliance advisor to business and product teams on areas such as MiCA/ MiFID II/ EMI/ DORA, providing clear, commercially-aware guidance that enables the business to move forward with confidence - Monitor, assess and communicate regulatory developments across the EU and key jurisdictions - Support Bitvavo's engagement with regulators on supervisory matters - Act as primary Compliance Officer responsible for completion of the annual Enterprise Risk Assessment and the Systematic Integrity Risk Analysis (SIRA), working alongside the Risk department - Lead regulatory impact assessments, translating new requirements into actionable business requirements and implementation roadmaps - Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders across product, technology, operations, and senior management - Support the VP of Compliance on day-to-day activities and strategic projects, including product launches, geographic expansion, and new regulatory authorisations - Lead the compliance workstream on new product and service approvals, new market entries, and regulatory authorisation programmes - Support the crypto asset admission framework for assets listed on the exchange - Design, implement and provide training across the organisation on compliance, ethics and integrity related topics Please note that this is a second-line programme design and advisory role, not a legal counsel position (no contract drafting/negotiation, no litigation) and not a KYC/CDD casework role (no client onboarding, transaction monitoring, or case investigations). WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 8+ years in Compliance, at least 5 of which in a second-line compliance function (policy, advisory, regulatory change) at a regulated exchange, EMI, CASP, or payment institution is mandatory - Comprehensive knowledge of financial services regulations (i.e MIFID II or MICAR, or Electronic Money /Payment service directives) is mandatory - Excellent report-writing and drafting policies capabilities - Skilled at executing multi-functional and cross-organisational assignments within Bitvavo Group that require in-depth compliance analysis - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - Detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy and integrity At Bitvavo, we believe that diverse perspectives drive innovation, foster creativity, and lead to better outcomes.
