  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and keep deals moving
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Comfort operating as a team of one while building the function for scale

Job description

ABOUT THE COMPANY Braintrust is the agent observability platform. By actively applying intelligence to agent traces and automatically surfacing the most critical patterns, Braintrust gives teams the visibility to understand how agents behave in production and the tools to improve them. Teams at Notion, Stripe, Box, OpenAI, and Cloudflare use Braintrust to trace their agents, find the issues in their observability data, and run evals that tell them how to improve. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking for our first in-house legal hire to join Braintrust. This role will be critical as we scale our sales and customer base, helping us close deals, navigate data privacy, and build a scalable legal function from the ground up. You’ll work closely with sales, product, engineering, and leadership to negotiate enterprise contracts, ensure compliance with data regulations, and design the processes that allow us to move quickly without unnecessary risk. This is a hands-on role where you’ll set strategy and also roll up your sleeves to get deals across the line.
