Job description
Dexmate is building the foundation for physical AI - a unified platform that combines high-quality robotic hardware with a universal Physical AI OS, making robots as easy to build and deploy as software. Today, robotics is fragmented, slow, and closed: most builders are forced to reinvent the same stack again and again, and most ideas never make it past the prototype stage. We exist to change that. Our mission is to democratize robotics by lowering the barrier to entry, delivering a plug-and-play platform for developers, researchers, and enterprises, and cultivating an open ecosystem that accelerates the evolution of physical AI. If you want to help shape the next layer of human capability - and believe the future of robotics should be built together, not in isolation - we'd love to build it with you. We're seeking talented Robot Systems Engineers to join our team in Santa Clara, CA (on-site). You'll be the technical bridge between hardware, software, and AI-ensuring seamless integration and validation of our robotic platforms from early prototypes to production systems deployed in the real world. What You'll Do System Integration & Architecture - Define and document system architectures spanning mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software domains - Drive system-level integration for new robot platforms, ensuring smooth functionality across sensors, actuators, compute, and communication subsystems - Design and develop early prototypes to de-risk new technologies and validate system concepts Software & Control Systems - Develop software systems to control and test robot platforms at the system level - Build custom test frameworks and automation tools for validation and debugging - Create data visualization and diagnostic tools to monitor system performance Testing, Validation & Deployment - Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate motion, sensing, control, and manipulation capabilities - Commission and operate robotic systems from initial bring-up through production deployment - Own overall functional and performance readiness throughout the full product lifecycle Problem Solving & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Lead root cause analysis for complex issues spanning hardware, firmware, and software - Triage and debug system interactions during design, launch, and deployment phases - Work closely with mechanical, electrical, perception, controls, and AI teams to deliver integrated solutions Required Qualifications - BS in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field with 5+ years of industrial experience; OR MS with 3+ years - 3+ years of hands-on industrial experience with robotic system integration, commissioning, and validation - Strong proficiency in C++ and Python for system-level programming, automation, and data analysis - Deep understanding of robotic system architecture including compute, sensing, actuation, and control - Hands-on experience with communication protocols (CAN, EtherCAT, Ethernet, serial interfaces) - Proficient with Linux-based systems and embedded systems debugging - Experience with hardware bring-up and validating electromechanical systems - Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills across technical disciplines - Genuine passion for robotics-you love working with robots and are excited to dedicate yourself to pushing the boundaries of what they can do - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where your work directly impacts our trajectory
