Job description

Flow Traders is looking for an experienced Staff Enterprise Engineer. The ideal candidate is proactive and driven, with a genuine appetite for modernizing and continuously improving our technology estate. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading proprietary trading firm with an entrepreneurial and innovative culture at the heart of its business. We value quick-witted, creative minds and challenge them to make full use of their capacities. As a senior individual contributor within the Enterprise Systems domain, you will define the long-term technical architecture and engineering standards across the estate, including identity, endpoints, compute, virtualization, operating systems, storage, databases, and the platforms beneath our enterprise SaaS. Reporting to the Global Head of IT, you will act as the senior technical authority and a mentor to our engineers, driving automation, engineering best practices, and modernization. This is a hands-on, senior IC role rather than a people-management position: an opportunity to shape technical direction and build, not to manage a team. What you will do • Define and own the long-term architecture and engineering standards for Enterprise Systems, covering identity, endpoints, compute, storage, databases, and the foundations supporting enterprise SaaS platforms • Act as the senior technical authority, mentoring engineers and driving high-quality architecture and design decisions • Translate complex business and technology challenges into clear technical roadmaps and scalable solutions • Lead modernization across identity, endpoint management, compute, and workplace technologies, and make on-premise versus cloud decisions on merit • Drive automation and self-service capabilities to improve efficiency, resilience, and user experience • Rationalize and optimize the technology landscape, responsibly retiring legacy systems in favor of modern, cost-effective solutions • Own the underlying platforms that support enterprise applications, including SSO, provisioning, integrations, and data flows • Champion engineering excellence through rigorous testing, validation, and lab-first deployment practices • You will be based in London and expected to travel frequently to our Amsterdam headquarters What you need to succeed • 10+ years of senior enterprise infrastructure engineering experience at Staff, Principal, or Technical Lead level • Deep expertise in identity and access management, cloud platforms, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure • Proven success leading cloud migrations, legacy platform retirements, and large-scale modernization initiatives • Strong architectural judgment with a vendor-neutral approach to cloud and platform decisions, choosing the right target on merit rather than by default • Experience integrating enterprise SaaS platforms through SSO, automated provisioning, APIs, and secure connectivity • Hands-on experience with automation, Infrastructure as Code, and applying AI to improve operations • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and drive cross-functional alignment • A collaborative technical leader who mentors engineers, raises engineering standards, and thrives as a hands-on individual contributor in a global, multi-region environment Flow Traders does not accept unsolicited resumes from any professional staffing or search firms. All resumes, and any other information identifying potential candidates, submitted to any employee at Flow Traders via-email, the Internet or directly without a valid and signed search agreement will be deemed free to contact by Flow Traders without any restrictions and no placement fee of any kind will be paid in the event the candidate is hired by Flow Traders.
