Garda is looking to hire an Intern to join the Rates Trading Desk in New York for Summer 2027. The candidate will be supporting the investment team, helping implement solutions for our trading and risk systems. In the course of the internship, you will be exposed to the analytics used in trading, working broadly with the team and closely with a mentor who will provide guidance and feedback. You will also have the opportunity to shadow and gain exposure to other desks across the trading floor, providing a broader perspective on the firm's business and markets. Position Responsibilities: • Shadow the rates trading desk in order to learn the day to day responsibilities of the investment team, from Analysts to Portfolio Managers • Develop a fundamental understanding of the Rates market and its main products including bonds, futures, swaps and options • Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify potential trading opportunities and assess the risk of new and existing strategies • Complete projects for the desk including trade ideas with presentation to the investment team • Support the team’s research process, including data collection and analysis, prototyping, back testing, and performance monitoring Qualifications & Desired Skills • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in finance, economics, etc. • Quantitative & programming skills (Python & SQL) • Knowledge and interest in financial markets • Strong communication skills • Ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team • Intellectual curiosity and motivation to innovate and improve • Prior experience in rates markets is not necessary Candidate Privacy Notice Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education. Hourly Compensation for this role is expected to be between: $55-$55 USD
