Job description
About Us Gumloop is the piece of AI infrastructure companies roll out to let everyone build agents securely. Let people who understand the problem build and share agents, manage their access to data, choose your AI models and host it all in your own cloud. We're a small team building as fast as humanly possible. Gusto, Ramp, Shopify, Samsara, Instacart, and Opendoor are running agents on Gumloop across their company. We've raised over $70M https://www.gumloop.com/blog/series-b from Benchmark, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, Nexus Ventures to scale and are looking for people who care as much as we do to join the team. Here’s what life at Gumloop is like: - Our beliefs – The Handbook https://www.gumloop.com/handbook - Our adventures – Wall of Photos https://www.gumloop.com/photos - What we’re working on – Changelog https://www.gumloop.com/changelog ROLE OVERVIEW We’re looking for a Design Engineer to help shape, design, and build high-craft product experiences end to end. This role sits at the intersection of product, design, and engineering. You’ll own key user-facing surfaces from early concept through final implementation, using strong product judgment, thoughtful interaction design, and excellent frontend execution to make complex workflows feel simple. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating with high ownership. You should be able to take a product problem, reason through the UX, design the interface, build the frontend, and collaborate with engineering when backend support is needed. You’ll also help evolve our design system and establish reusable patterns that make the product better over time, and allow the rest of our engineering team to build beautiful interfaces. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants direct influence over what we build, how it works, and how it feels. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Design and build polished, user-facing product experiences across core surfaces of the product. - Own features end to end, from product thinking and UX exploration through implementation and iteration. - Use layout, interaction design, and motion to make powerful workflows feel intuitive and fast. - Contribute to and evolve our design system, component library, and frontend patterns. - Work closely with product, design, and engineering to turn ambiguous ideas into simple, high-quality experiences. - Bring strong craft to the details: accessibility, performance, reliability, responsive behavior, and edge cases. - Partner with other engineers, and when needed contribute across the stack to bring features fully across the finish line. WHAT YOU BRING - 2–5+ years of experience building user-facing products in high-ownership environments. - Strong experience with TypeScript, React, Tailwind CSS, and modern frontend development. - Experience contributing to or building a design system, component library, or reusable frontend patterns. - A track record of owning product work end to end with limited handholding. - Strong product intuition and the ability to make thoughtful UX decisions independently. - Care for craft beyond the first 80%, including performance, accessibility, reliability, and visual polish. - A systems-first mindset and interest in building durable patterns that help the whole team move faster. BONUS POINTS - Experience in developer tools, technical products, or AI-native products. - Familiarity with Next.js, TanStack Query, TanStack Table, TanStack Form, Zod, or Motion/React. - Experience working with CMS platforms or SEO-oriented product surfaces. - Comfort using design tools like Figma, Paper, or similar tools to explore and communicate ideas. - Full-stack capability, especially enough backend fluency to independently unblock product work. BENEFITS - Highly competitive salary and meaningful equity - Generous paid time off: 24 days for SF employees and 20 days globally, use them as you need - $350/month wellness benefit to spend on gym, spa, equipment, or whatever keeps you at your best - 15 days of temporary remote work flexibility per year - 401k match up to 6%
