Job description

ABOUT HUT 8 Imagine the ultimate destination for those who want to work at the cutting edge of technology, energy, and infrastructure. Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world’s largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads, including AI, Colocation, Cloud, and Bitcoin Mining. We are proud to offer interesting and challenging opportunities for individuals who want to build teams, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. If you’re an ambitious individual looking for a career that is as rewarding as it is challenging, you’ve come to the right place. ABOUT THE ROLE Hut 8 develops and operates the infrastructure that powers next-generation technologies. Today, we are focused on developing data centers for AI. Across the industry, this infrastructure is built as undifferentiated, utilitarian buildings. We are creating a senior design role to redefine the form, function, and civic role of these facilities. The opportunity is to define the architecture of a new typology and the civic campus around it. The role owns the architecture and design of everything we build: data centers, offices and workplaces, and the asset types to come. The first expression is the data center: a coherent architectural language that makes our infrastructure read as civic architecture rather than industrial backdrop on a campus that serves the public realm. The role carries real authority and works within real constraints, directing leading architecture and design firms, engaging at the earliest stage of each project, and working alongside engineering and development as a peer. The mandate is to produce lasting architecture and genuinely civic sites within those constraints. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES • Define the architectural language of our infrastructure, a coherent identity spanning building form, exterior expression, and interior environments. • Define our campus model, including the public, landscape, and amenity program of each site. • Direct top third-party architecture and design firms to develop and realize that vision, holding them to the standard you set. • Lead internal and external project teams to deliver large-format projects on schedule and on budget. ABOUT YOU You are a registered architect operating at the level of Design Director, Design Principal, or senior design lead on flagship projects at a top practice. The role requires the ability to establish a distinct architectural identity and the discipline to design within rigid, mission-critical constraints. KEY REQUIREMENTS • Vision-setting: A proven track record of creating and defending distinct architectural identities, rather than project execution alone. • Range across architecture, interiors, and site: Command of building form, refined interior environments, and the masterplanning of campuses and landscape. • Client-side leadership: The ability to direct, evaluate, and challenge elite firms as a peer. • Constraint fluency: Te ability to design within the power, cooling, security, and logistical demands of mission-critical infrastructure. • Delivery: Experience leading large-format, capital-intensive projects taken from concept to completion, on schedule and on budget. Prior exposure to hyperscale, industrial, or complex infrastructure projects is a significant plus. ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT This role is based in Miami. Business travel may be required periodically for key moments (e.g., leadership sessions, major events, site visits). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. WHAT MAKES HUT 8 A GREAT PLACE TO WORK Hut 8 offers a benefits and wellness program that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and short-term and long-term disability insurance, as well as paid time off. We are proud to invest in building the best team in the industry. At all levels of the organization, we are driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, radical transparency, and relentless growth mentality. At Hut 8, you will have the opportunity to: ▶ Work with bright, driven peers from a range of educational and professional backgrounds including software development, energy, engineering, entrepreneurship, investment banking, private equity, and management consulting ▶ Design and pitch new products, services, and other initiatives to a leadership team consisting of serial entrepreneurs and seasoned executives and backed by a board of directors consisting of industry veterans of energy, finance, and government ▶ Debate ideas and alternatives in a truly meritocratic setting where the learning curve is steep and the lessons come from both senior and junior members of the team ▶ Build a lifelong network of friends and professional connections at the cutting-edge intersection of technology, energy, and infrastructure
