Job description
We are looking for a commercially driven OTC Crypto Trader to join our team in Sydney. In this role, you will be directly responsible for growing the desk’s PnL and executing block trades across digital asset markets. You will be entrusted with large ticket sizes and expected to operate with professionalism, discretion, and a sharp commercial instinct. Your core responsibilities: • Design and implement complex low-latency and algorithmic trading strategies across various Crypto venues and products. • Iterate on trading strategies to optimize execution quality and PnL. • Monitor execution and market risk in real time during trading sessions. • Work closely with counterparties, acting as a point of contact for trading-related topics (e.g. monitoring chats, handling operational issues during trading hours). • Collaborate with Trading, Technology, Operations, and Compliance teams to ensure smooth end-to-end trade flow. • Quote counterparties for voice trades during APAC hours • Contribute to improving tooling, analytics, and automation around OTC trading workflows. Your skills and experience: • 2-5 years of experience in quantitative trading or research (crypto experience is a plus, not a must). • Strong Python skills and the ability to work independently on research and production-level code. • Solid quantitative background in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field. • High attention to detail, good time management, and clear communication skills. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative trading environment. Nice to have: • Prior exposure to crypto markets or digital assets. • Experience working directly with trading counterparties. • Familiarity with execution, market microstructure, or trading systems. About Us IMC is a research-driven trading firm where quantitative modeling, machine learning, and engineering shape how modern markets are traded. A stabilizing force in markets since 1989, we provide liquidity across trading venues, delivering the best outcome in value and risk management to investors. Using our own technology and capital, we build proprietary systems and algorithms that operate across global markets. Our researchers, traders, and engineers work as a collective, combining rapid experimentation, advanced infrastructure, and real-time feedback to turn insight into execution and execution into advantage.
