Job description

WHAT IS KALSHI? Kalshi has defined a new category: prediction markets. Kalshi allows people to trade on the outcome of any events and turn any question about the future into a financial asset. Kalshi fought for years and legalized prediction markets in the US for the first time in history, is currently the fastest growing financial market in America, and has thousands of markets across politics, economics, financials, weather, tech, AI, culture and more. We believe prediction markets have the potential to be the largest financial market because they turn anything into a financial position. - Our vision: well… build the largest financial market on the planet. - Our mission: bring more truth to the world through the power of markets. Our culture is simple: we hire really talented people, work really hard, and enjoy the climb. We are looking for ambitious and exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets. ROLE ROADMAP As Kalshi scales, the complexity and volume of our accounting operations are growing with it. We are looking for someone to take meaningful ownership of the day-to-day accounting organization, including the monthly and quarterly close, staff management, process improvement, controls, and audit readiness. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will directly manage members of the accounting team while remaining close enough to the work to review journal entries and reconciliations, solve problems during close, and step in wherever needed. In the near term, you will take ownership of key accounting functions, learn and ultimately run the close calendar, and become the first point of escalation for the broader accounting team. Over time, you will help build the processes, controls, automation, and operating discipline required as Kalshi prepares for its next stage of growth and eventual public-company readiness. This could be a great fit for an experienced Senior Accountant ready to take on their first formal management role or an Accounting Manager looking for substantially more ownership in a fast-growing company. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Own and manage the monthly and quarterly close process, including the close calendar, journal entries, account reconciliations, and review process - Directly manage members of the accounting team, including workload allocation, coaching, feedback, and development - Review journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting work prepared by the team - Serve as the day-to-day escalation point for accounting questions before they reach the Controller or Head of Technical Accounting - Partner closely with the Controller and Head of Technical Accounting to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting - Improve the rigor and efficiency of the close process by identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, and stronger operating procedures - Document accounting processes and help build scalable, SOX-ready controls and procedures - Coordinate audit requests, walkthroughs, PBC schedules, and follow-ups with external auditors - Help improve accounting systems and workflows, including NetSuite and related finance tooling - Jump into ad hoc accounting and finance projects as Kalshi continues to scale WHAT YOU BRING - 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience with meaningful ownership of the general ledger and monthly or quarterly close - Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and core accounting principles - Experience leading, mentoring, reviewing, or managing other accountants and a genuine desire to continue developing people - The accounting judgment to review others' work, identify issues, and know when something requires escalation - A track record of taking ownership of complex processes and driving them to completion - Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep multiple contributors on track against a close calendar - Comfort operating in a fast-growing environment where processes may still be evolving and responsibilities are not always neatly defined - A willingness to stay close to the details and do the work yourself when the situation requires it - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - CPA or progress toward a CPA is strongly preferred - Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP is a plus - Experience in a high-growth technology company, public-company environment, or Big 4 accounting firm is a plus NYC PAY TRANSPARENCY DISCLOSURE: Salary Range: $150,000 to $200,000 annually plus equity and benefits. This range reflects current market data for this role. Kalshi has minimal hierarchy and broad variance in experience levels within each title; if your compensation expectations exceed this range, we encourage you to reach out - we’re always happy to discuss. OUR CULTURE Meritocracy is at our core, and we value people who take ownership and figure (usually hard) things out. We dream big. We love our craft deeply and are proud of what we put out in the world. We are committed to our vision of building something big… but also useful: a product that brings more truth through the power of markets. Kalshians are Kalshi’s most important asset: we pick Kalshians carefully, so we trust them fully on day 1. COMMITMENT TO EQUAL OPPORTUNITY Kalshi is committed to creating a culture of inclusion and belonging, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We believe it is our collective responsibility to uphold these values and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to join us in our mission. All qualified applicants will be treated with respect and receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, uniform service, veteran status, age, or any other protected characteristic per federal, state, or local law. If you are passionate about what you do and want to use your talents to support our mission and values, we’d love to hear from you.
