Job description

The internet runs the world. Organizations across the world-from offices and schools to data centers and manufacturing facilities-spend billions annually on computer networking to stay productive. However, these networks are messy and brittle. Traditional networking companies only build one piece of the puzzle-either hardware, software, or operations-but never all three, leading to inefficient silos and slow changes. Network engineers, who are the lifeblood of the industry, are often left scrambling to fix issues, hand editing configs, guess-and-checking solutions, and worrying how the ever-increasing complexity of the system they manage will break. Meter has spent the last decade vertically integrating the fragmented computer networking industry across hardware (power, routing, switches, security, wireless), firmware, operating systems, and real-world operations. By owning the full stack, we make it exceptionally easy for any business to have great networking, internet, and Wi-Fi. We believe people who build hardware and software should be the ones responsible for it. Our ambition is to evolve internet infrastructure into a utility, and we raised a $170M Series C https://www.meter.com/blog/series-c to advance our work. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE In this role, you will build the teams that build Meter’s Data Center product line across hardware, firmware, software, and QA engineering. You will work closely with Meter's founders, engineering leadership, and existing recruiting team (leveraging successful processes that they’ve defined). Your goal is to continuously raise the bar with each hire you make. Within six months, you'll have built a recruiting engine that consistently sources and closes exceptional hires who thrive at Meter. By the end of your first year, your success will be measured by the following: - Hiring quality: Your hires' 6-month performance ratings consistently exceed or greatly exceed hiring manager expectations. You achieve 90%+ new hire retention through year one with hiring managers consistently sharing they would enthusiastically rehire these colleagues. - Hiring velocity: You'll reduce time-to-hire by 20% from the current baseline, maintaining an ≥80% offer acceptance rate. WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE You’ll own everything from mapping the market, to attracting and evaluating talent, to closing candidates. You'll partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, design search-related collateral, and implement rigorous, reliable hiring practices. You'll build and nurture strong relationships with candidates who are known for being the best at their craft, serving as Meter's expert on who is the right candidate to pursue for any given search. Great work happens through sheer perseverance and doing the basics really well (e.g., following up one more time to a prospect you’ve been pursuing, finding a way to get an intro, shipping something personal to a candidate, etc.). WHO YOU ARE - You have a track record of identifying and closing top-tier engineering talent, with expertise in evaluating technical depth across hardware, software, and firmware disciplines. - You’re known for consistently building lean, high performing engineering teams at ambitious, fast-growing technology companies. - You bring clarity and confidence to the hiring process, enabling your hiring partners to make decisions with a high degree of conviction. - You've built recruiting processes that scale with fast growing, early stage functions. - You DON’T need experience recruiting for hardware and firmware roles. WHY METER? The internet runs the world. Every email you send, purchase you make, video call you join-it’s all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven’t changed for decades. They’re brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space. We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build everything from the ground-up: designing and building our own enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, Reddit, rely on Meter to keep their thousands of employees and locations online and productive. Our bet with Meter is simple: we will all use the internet more than we do today. We believe we have the definitive networking stack in place to enable business to do so as seamlessly and reliably as any modern utility. COMPENSATION - The estimated pay range for this role is $130,000 - $190,000. - Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan.
