Job description

ABOUT POINTONE PointOne is reinventing how law firms operate. Our AI-powered timekeeper helps attorneys capture billable time automatically and provides rich insights that transform how legal work is managed. We’re a venture-backed startup (Y Combinator, Bessemer, 8VC, General Catalyst) made up of engineers (Google, Applied Intuition, Stanford) and ex-attorneys. Following an excellent seed round and rapid customer adoption, we’re expanding our customer success team to keep up with demand. ABOUT THE ROLE This is the first dedicated accounting hire. You will own the monthly close and build the AR and AP functions from the ground up, not inherit them. The finance stack is modern and largely automated, and the expectation is that you keep it that way: when something breaks, you fix the process rather than adding a manual reconciliation. The scope is real and the leverage is high. Within one quarter you should be the person who knows the books better than anyone else in the company. WHAT YOU'LL OWN - The Close: Every journal entry, every balance sheet reconciliation, the checklist, the workpapers. You set the calendar and you hit it. Then you make it shorter. - AR: Invoicing, collections cadence, dunning, aging, credit notes, reserve, disputes. - AP: Vendor onboarding and W-9s, approval thresholds, payment runs, expense policy, 1099s. - Cash: The 13 week rolling forecast. Weekly actual versus forecast with written commentary on the misses. Bank recs across every operating account. - Documentation: Writing out processes as you build them out so we are always ahead of any future diligence or audit. WHO YOU ARE You have 4+ years in accounting either in Big 4 audit on technology clients, or in-house at a SaaS company that was growing fast to see and repair things that break in real time. You should be able to close a month, defend every number in it, and reconcile a billing system to a GL without flinching. - Advanced knowledge of Excel and Sheets - CPA is a plus - SQL is a plus, or the appetite to pick it up by month three, because most of our reporting lives in Postgres. - You like to move EXTREMELY fast and build systems that drive the decision making behind growth. BEING STRAIGHT WITH YOU Nobody is handing you a finished checklist here. This is your role to own and build from end to end. If you're not someone who likes rolling up their sleeves and taking extreme ownership then this role is NOT for you. If you want to build something great that you can call your own, Apply ASAP! Looking forward to chatting.
