Job description

SUPERVISOR, SPACEPORT OPERATIONS (TRANSPORTATION) The Spaceport Operations Supervisor will develop, manage, market, provide strategic direction, and oversight of transportation programs (employee commute shuttles, on-site shuttles, airport shuttles, Tesla rental program, bike share, hovercraft commuter operations, and related amenities) while supporting broader Spaceport Village operations including site amenities and customer service. You will optimize routes, operational practices, and parking systems for the most efficient, safest, and highest-participation transportation program possible. You will train and implement effective customer service strategies, coordinate operations, analyze data, monitor and motivate staff, ensure excellent customer service, engage customers, hire and develop talent, maintain mandatory training, handle scheduling and payroll, and drive process improvements. This role supports the SpaceX mission by delivering efficient transportation logistics, outstanding customer service, vehicle/amenity maintenance, and quality-of-life support that boosts morale and productivity. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Oversee the full portfolio of transportation programs: off-site shuttles (vans and charter buses), on-site shuttle service, Tesla rental program, hovercraft commuter operations, bike share, parking lots/structures/facilities, and related team-building or employee engagement events • Innovate approaches to increase participation in employee commuter and parking programs through communications, messaging, incentive systems, and creative campaigns • Act as primary point of contact for parking and transportation facilities; perform strategic analysis to improve and optimize overall system efficiency, routes, and operational practices • Recommend and support development of internal transportation and parking policies, procedures, and programs • Lead internal customer relations for commute/transportation questions and feedback; oversee customer service, issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and corrective action plans • Oversee communication of systems/service changes to stakeholders (email, newsletter, intranet/app, signage, basic graphics) • Interface with internal stakeholders (including Spaceport Development, Facilities, Culinary, and Hospitality teams) to understand, develop, and align goals • Monitor quality, consistency, and financial activities of Spaceport transportation and related operations; set/enforce standards, inspect and routinely walk areas of responsibility; strategically drive revenue and improve operating costs • Train staff on customer service, anticipating guest/employee needs, problem resolution, and safety practices; create and maintain in-person and online training materials; ensure the team is current with all mandatory company training • Enforce proper safety practices and support high-volume, complex multidisciplinary operations BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or equivalency certificate • 3+ years of leadership experience in transportation program management, hospitality, or other corporate employee services programs PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related field • Experience opening new operations and/or creating operational procedures from the ground up; 1+ years in SpaceX Spaceport Operations a plus • Advanced knowledge of customer service and problem resolution; excellent written and verbal communication skills • Experience in a corporate environment; proficient knowledge of human resources management and Microsoft Office/Outlook • Ability to organize work for large groups in various service formats; strong time management skills • Experience with high-volume, complex multidisciplinary operations and leading teams of 10+ staff members • Eye for aesthetic industrial design; ability to read and understand basic floor plans; familiarity with space planning, facilities in an aerospace industry, and ERP software for RFPOs/work orders • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; make independent judgments with limited information; logical and strategic approach to solving problems • Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in writing) between employees, vendors, and customers • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects, with flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX locations for significant/extended periods of time as needed (up to 85% of the time) • Must be able to relocate to Starbase, Texas ITAR REQUIREMENTS: • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
