Job description

Autonomous vehicles have some of the largest, most complex software ever shipped in a safety-critical environment. Solving that problem is one of the most exciting technical challenges of our lifetime. As part of the Release Management team at Zoox, you will own all aspects of the software release process and help accelerate our product development by leading various weekly / fortnightly / monthly releases focused on ensuring we are shipping the safest and most reliable software possible.    As developers build new features, the release management team will be responsible for tracking and knowing the content of each release, updating testing strategies, measuring system performance, and escalating issues seen during on-vehicle and offline testing. These efforts are critical to maintaining our code quality and ensuring our service capabilities are operating as intended. You will coordinate with cross-divisional teams to accelerate releases, increase the quality of our autonomous driving products, and optimize resource efficiency. Your ability to understand the overall system design and component interaction to help guide test methodology for functional and safety sign-off is crucial to the overall success of the release team. Accountability and integrity are core to Zoox teams. In this role, you will: • Work with all stakeholders in Development, QA, and vehicle operations to assemble cross-organizational project teams, tracking progress and delivering towards release milestones • Multiply the impact of release teams across Zoox by turning what works into shared tooling and practices, accelerating how quickly software reaches the fleet • Track results of all required tests, analyze release blockers, and enable successful resolution • Coordinate release readiness across integration, QA, and component teams, tracking readiness indicators and securing the approvals that confirm each release is production-ready including hands-on experience enforcing SLAs for release blockers, and driving fast mitigation strategies. • Build and scale automation that removes manual release work, from branch management and merge workflows to release visibility and metrics. Qualifications: • Bachelor degree with 3-5 years of experience in release engineering, build engineering, or release management for large, complex software products. • Proficiency with Git, including branch management and conflict resolution and experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines (with tools such as Buildkite, Jenkins, or Bamboo) • Excellent communication (Written and Verbal) and organizational skills • Programming experience in Python or another scripting language, including automating release or build workflows. • Excellent communication skills and ability to quickly adapt to changes Bonus Qualifications: • Experience with developing automated functional test software on Hardware-in-the-Loop infrastructure. • Experience managing release pipelines that combine simulation regression testing with physical hardware. About Zoox Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. Sitting at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and design, Zoox aims to provide the next generation of mobility-as-a-service in urban environments.
